Lap Band surgery has carved a niche for itself as the best surgery for getting rid of obesity. In a report published by the ILOST team of surgeons who conducted this surgery on 6,000 people over the past 12 years, they say that the complications as well as the mortality was least in comparison to other surgeries done for the perspective of losing obesity.
In that research there was not a single case of death and the number of cases of re-operation was less than 5%. Only 106 patients needed to get their band attached to the stomach re-operated. Out of these numbers, people with lap band slippage and dilated pouch were 70, 20 people has to remove their band, 16 were suffering from erosion, 14 of them were unable to tolerate it and the remaining 5 removed because they were suffering from HIV AIDS and other viral diseases. So, all in all the percentage of getting operated again has considerably lowered by 4.4%. And as far as the weight loss was concerned, 7 out of every 10 people who opted for lap ban surgery were successful in getting rid of fatty elements from their body.
